The Great Depression began with the stock market crash on October 29, 1929, also known as Black Tuesday.

1.        What is Black Tuesday?

“Lennie can’t swim.  One day, I told Lennie to jump in the lake.  He jumped in just because I said so. He almost drowned and was so nice to me when I pulled him out.”

2.        Why did Lennie jump in the lake?

“Take the pup back to the nest. He’s got to sleep with his mother or else you might kill him.”

3.        Why does Lennie need to take the pup back to his mother?
