Topic: Why was it so hard for people to form unions during
George and Lennie’s times (the 1930’s)?
Option 1:
Write a one paragraph essay explaining why it was so hard
for people to form unions. Use today’s vocabulary in your paragraph: wage ; cheap
labor; employ; exploit; labor. Also, make sure to use at least one example from
the text to support your claim.
Option 2:
Pretend you are a fed up journalist. You are tired of seeing
how Curly abuses the workers on his farm.
You decide to write an article accusing Curly and other men like
him. Write an article stating what
it is he does, how he treats the workers, and why you think the workers will
not protest or complain.
Option 3:
Draw a poster that shows George, Lennie and Candy protesting
about Curley. They’re signs should
use examples of today’s vocabulary words: wage ; cheap labor; employ; exploit;
labor.
