CHRISTOPHER BOONE IS A VERY UNIQUE CHARACTER IN MORE THAN ONE WAY. YET THROUGHOUT THE YEAR WE HAVE READ AND LEARNED ABOUT MANY CHARACTERS, SOME MORE INTERESTING THAN OTHERS (CHOOSE ONE QUESTION/TASK OPTION BELOW):
OPTION 1: NAME A CHARACTER FROM ANY OF THE NOVELS WE READ THIS YEAR. FOR EXAMPLE, JUNIOR FROM THE ABSOLUTELY TRUE DIARY OF A PART TIME INDIAN; OKWONKO FROM THINGS FALL APART; OR LENNY FROM MICE AND MEN. COMPARE ANY CHARACTER THAT YOU LIKED OR DISLIKED TO CHRISTOPHER. WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS CHARACTER? HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THIS CHARACTER? IS THIS CHARACTER SIMILAR TO CHRISTOPHER OR DIFFERENT, HOW?
OPTION 2: WHICH CHARACTER FROM ANY OF THE NOVELS THAT WE READ THIS YEAR DO YOU FEEL YOU HAVE MOST IN COMMON WITH? WRITE A PARAGRAPH EXPLAINING WHY OR HOW YOU IDENTIFY WITH THIS CHARACTER.
OPTION 3: DRAW A T- CHART ON A SHEET OF PAPER. ON ONE SIDE WRITE CHRISTOPHER'S LIKES, ON THE OTHER CHRISTOPHER'S DISLIKES. THEN DRAW THREE THINGS THAT CHRISTOPHER LIKES AND 3 THINGS THAT HE DISLIKES. FINALLY, WRITE A SENTENCE EXPLAINING ONE OF THE THINGS HE LIKES AND ONE OF THE THINGS HE DISLIKES.

Instructions: Read the following quote taken from The Curious Incident of a dog in the Night-time” and then choose a task.
“People say that you always have to tell the truth. But they do not mean this because you are not allowed to tell old people that they are old and you are not allowed to tell people if they smell funny or if a grown-up has made a fart. And you are not allowed to say, "I don't like you," unless that person has been horrible to you. (73.2)”
Option 1: You’ve probably been told many times not to tell lies. You have also been probably told not to hurt people’s feelings. But what happens if the only way to spare some one’s feelings is to tell a lie? Write about an experience you had where you had to tell a lie or hide the truth to avoid hurting someone’s feelings.
Option 2: Has someone ever told you something about you that was very mean? At the time you might of felt hurt but later you though about it and found what was said about you was true? Share how you felt? You don’t have to say what happened or what was said, but just how you felt and why.
Option 3: Make up a drawing of Christopher having a conversation with someone where he tells someone the truth about anything (for example, that the person is very boring). Imagine how the other person will feel. Draw this person too. Write what the person might say.
Option 4: We are taught to the tell the truth since we are very young. Is it always best to tell the truth? Are there occasions where it might be better to not tell the truth? Explain why?

For example, this morning for breakfast I had … some hot raspberry milk shake. But if I say that I actually had Shreddies and a mug of tea I start thinking about Coco-Pops and lemonade and porridge and Dr. Pepper and how I wasn't eating my breakfast in Egypt and there wasn't a rhinoceros in the room and Father wasn't wearing a diving suit and so on and even writing this makes me feel shaky and scared, like I do when I'm standing on the top of a very tall building and there are thousands of houses and cars and people below me and my head is so full of all these things that I'm afraid that I'm going to forget to stand up straight and hang onto the rail and I'm going to fall over and be killed. (37.3-4)
Often we say that we can’t do something
or another. For example, you can say we’re not good at singing or writing but
then one day you sing and people will over your voice, or you can write a poem
and people might love it, too.
Christopher claims that he has a
hard time imagining things that haven't happened to him. But it's clear from
this passage that he actually has a pretty incredible imagination.
